Relating to dental hygiene; and declaring an emergency.
Catchline/Summary:
Modifies definition of "dental hygiene." Modifies educational requirements for obtaining permit as limited access permit dental hygienist. Modifies definition of "dental hygiene." Modifies educational requirements for obtaining permit as limited access permit dental hygienist. Authorizes permit holder to assess need for and appropriateness of dental sealants and to apply dental sealants.
Provides that supervision of dentist is not required when dental hygienist determines need for and appropriateness of sealants or fluoride and applies sealants or fluoride at certain locations and for certain persons.
Provides that appropriately trained counselors and health assistants may apply fluoride varnishes to teeth of children enrolled in or receiving services or benefits from Women, Infants and Children Program, Oregon prekindergarten program or federal Head Start grant program.
Declares emergency, effective on passage.
